About the Role

We are seeking a visionary Design Director to lead our Designer Center (approx. 30 members) and drive the next stage of our design innovation. This role will oversee UI, Visual, and Content design teams, ensuring product and brand consistency, advancing cross-platform user experiences, and leveraging AI to expand design capabilities.

The Design Director will act as a key partner to executive management, advocating for the strategic value of design, while closely collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to deliver compelling, high-impact user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and scale a multidisciplinary design team of ~30 (UI, Visual, Content).
- Define and execute design strategies aligned with product and brand objectives.
- Establish and maintain a design system ensuring consistency across platforms.

2. Content & Multimedia Innovation
- Oversee creation of multimedia assets (effects, stickers, filters, transitions, templates, 3D, motion graphics, video editing, post-production).
- Drive adoption of AI-powered content generation to enhance design efficiency and creativity.
- Ensure high-quality visual storytelling with a premium, cinematic, and tech-driven style.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with PM, Engineering, and Marketing to align design execution with business priorities.
- Translate complex user needs and workflows into intuitive, modular design solutions.
- Present and advocate design value to senior leadership, influencing key decisions.

4. Team Development
- Recruit, mentor, and develop design talent to build a high-performing creative organization.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Experience
- 10+ years in design, with 5+ years leading teams of 10+ designers (UI/Visual/Content).
- Proven experience in multimedia / content creation tools (effects, stickers, filters, transitions, motion graphics, post-production).
- Track record of building and scaling design systems for digital products.
- Hands-on experience with AI design tools or generative AI applications in content creation.

Skills
- Strong leadership and organizational management skills.
- Excellent cross-functional communication and upward management ability with executives.
- Proficiency in UX/UI, data visualization, and multimedia production.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin, with an international perspective on design trends.
